多個世紀以來，羊毛一直是製作保溫內衣之首選，全因它那柔軟之質感及超卓之保溫能力。無奈羊毛亦有吸汗後難乾及清洗後容易變形之缺點。mont-bell因此著手改良，從紐西蘭精選最優質之MERINO羊毛，在表層加上帶汗處理，令其具有帶汗快乾之功能， 亦易於清洗，不易變形。
此外，mont-bell亦運用他們累積多年之針織技術，特別為重量級系列構設出三層式結構，中央為一空氣層，能有效將體溫鎖住，使質感更柔軟外，保暖程度亦得以提高，而纖維間亦經過順化排列，令其伸縮性高於其他羊毛內衣。
重量探險級使用雙層隔層式編織法，在兩層纖維間留有更多空氣，觸感更鬆軟柔滑且更保溫。而內裡使用更幼滑之紗線所織成，對皮膚更呵護。為雪地探險或前往極寒地帶最佳之選擇。

Featuring a three micro-layer knit structure, Expedition Weight SUPER MERINO WOOL maintains a layer of air between an exterior and an interior fabric. The layer closest to your skin pulls moisture away, spreads it out and moves it to the outer layer for faster evaporation. This action allows the layer of air to maintain a more constant temperature. Most people enjoy Expedition Weight base layers when involved in "stop & go" activities in cold weather. Ideal uses: cold weather mountaineering, ice climbing, skiing and snowboarding.
